Ashley & Tyler’s Art Institute of Chicago wedding will go down as one of the most unforgettable of my career. When working at a place like the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, you almost expect your clients to do something amazing, but what Ashley & her Mom, Sue, dreamt up for Ashley & Tyler’s September 2017 wedding was even more incredible than I could have imagined. An unexpected color palette combined with Sue’s artistic abilities (she designed all of the paper products!) made for a wedding planner’s dream.
Not only was the design unique, but so was the entire planning process. With all of the “key players” living outside of Chicago – Ashley in NYC, Sue in Texas, and Tyler’s family also on the east coast, it was my job to be the force in Chicago to turn their ideas into a plan, and I was so excited to have that role. I like to call Sue, “MOB of the year” because she truly was the project manager and brought all of Ashley’s dreams to life – From the macaron tower down to the “party props” that were thrown around the dance floor as The Party Faithful had guests dancing the night away, Sue truly thought of everything and made this an unforgettable evening for Ashley & Tyler. I’m so excited to share a few snippets of our style guide + the beyond amazing photos from Julia Franzosa with you all today! (And I also have to mention Erin Sellers from Revel Decor in this blurb because she was the real mastermind behind ALL of this gorgeousness – Thank you for being my co-planner on this one, Erin!)

Another shoutout to Erin because she got us peonies in September. They’re Ashley’s favorite!
Despite being a total #girlboss (an NYC girl pursuing her law career while planning a wedding), Ashley was the most laid back bride ever. Ashley and Tyler’s #1 priority was for this to be an unforgettable weekend in Chicago with their friends and family, and that’s absolutely what it was.
Table numbers, escort cards, menus and more designed by Sue Kuempel – How gorgeous are these? A beautiful nod to the Art Institute!
