It has been just over a month since the Royal Wedding and Team SG is still swooning. My husband called it “the Super Bowl of the wedding industry” and he couldn’t be more correct. I could talk for hours about how much I loved getting up at the crack of dawn and watching a real life fairytale! In fact, I probably have talked about it for hours! But since we won’t be seeing another Royal Wedding of this magnitude for quite some time, I though it would be fun to talk about some of the details of the day and how us commoners can learn from the Royals!

 

 

THE FLORAL ARCH

I mean, come on. This was hands down my favorite aspect of the day. We all know that floral arches are in, especially those filled with abundant greenery. However, this arch took it to another level! What I love about this in particular is that it dresses up the church a bit without taking away from the beautiful architecture and decor of the church itself. The planner side of me loves that the floral was placed on the arch where the bride and groom both entered and exited the ceremony. This meant that the arch got so much use because it was in almost every photo!  What we can learn from the Royals: If you’re going to spend money on decor at the church, use it wisely and in an area where most photos will be taken. And if you have the budget, tell your florist you want a royal floral arch!

 

THE DRESS

Simple, classic, elegant, understated. I’ll be honest, when I first saw this dress, I was a bit disappointed. I was so in love with Kate’s dress and just expected something with a bit more pop. However, after the initial disappointment, I quickly fell in love with the, now iconic, boat neck dress. I foresee not only the boat neck coming back in a big way but also the entire ensemble inspiring brides for years to come. A simple, classic dress with a swoon worthy veil and accessories to die for! You really can’t go wrong. What we can learn from the Royals: Don’t be afraid to go simple and classic with your wedding day attire. And then don’t be afraid to add on the glam with accessories!

 

THE CARS

Or perhaps they call them “carriages”? Either way, this detail can often be overlooked by brides but as we saw in this case, can make a huge impact! In my opinion, there is nothing more elegant than exiting the church and getting into a gorgeous vintage automobile. Plus, think of all of the photos!! What we can learn from the Royals: Splurge on the get away car! Your photographer and your photo albums will thank you.

 

I will just be over here counting down the days until Prince George is old enough to wed! Until then, I will continue to swoon over Harry and Meghan’s perfect day and continue to be inspired by the classy choices of the Royals.
