T minus 3 days until Superbowl Sunday! While your pigskin loving husbands and hubbys-to-be might not care about snacks, that is just not the case for the girls (bring on the snacks)! But, thanks to Bridal Sculpt, we’re not going to spend this Sunday noshing on nachos & chicken fingers. So, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share our favorite (healthy) hummus recipe that not only you will love, but will also win over the guys!
All you’re going to need is a 28 oz. can of chickpeas, 2 gloves of garlic, tahini (more info about this later in the post!), lemon, salt, and olive oil.
Drain the chickpeas, but save some of the liquid for later. Blend the chickpeas until they’re a smooth consistency, and then add the rest of the ingredients!
This makes around 10 servings, so if you’re having a big group over, I would double the recipe – it is addicting!
You could go the super healthy route and serve it with veggies, but pita chips are just a little bit more fun.
GARLIC HUMMUS RECIPE
(makes about 10 servings)
recipe via: Ashley Michaels
prep time: 25 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 large can of chickpeas (28 oz.)
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2-3 tablespoons of tahini (this is found in the ethnic food aisle, it’s Arabic. It’s just sesame paste!)
- The juice of one lemon (4-5 tablespoons)
- 1-2 teaspoons of salt
- Up to 1/4 cup of water
- Olive Oil (optional)
Drain the chickpeas, but preserve some of the liquid for later.
Blend the chick peas for about 20 seconds in either a blender or food processor, then add lemon juice, tahini, salt, and some water (or the extra liquid from the chickpeas). Blend all ingredients until smooth. For a smoother texture, add more water or olive oil.
Scoop out of the blender and into a medium serving bowl or dish. Drizzle some olive oil on top (no more than 1 T) and sprinkle some hot red pepper (optional)!
Serve with pita chips, veggies, or spread on a sandwich!
Thank you to our friend, Ashley, for this fab recipe! It is so delish!
